Board Members

Marcy Hoggard, Board of Directors, Program Director

Marcy is the wife of Brent Hoggard and co-owner of The Red Barn Auction Company. She is the mother of 6, adopted and biological, with many special strengths and special needs, and foster mom to 24. She has parented children with FASD, RAD, Autism, Speech Disorders, Stuttering,Developmental Language Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, Anxiety, PANS, Encopresis, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, ODD, ADHD, Hyperlexia, and Hearing Impairment. Marcy graduated from East Carolina University, BA History, Music minor. She was a licensed Kindermusik instructor, providing music classes for ages Birth to 7 years for the City of Rocky Mount for 9 years. She and Brent were licensed foster parents for Nash County for 10 years. Marcy established and has led Simple Gifts Homeschool Cooperative at Sunset Avenue Baptist for the past 10 years. Marcy and Brent serve in the Children’s Ministry at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church.



Kristi Dozier, Board of Directors, Director of Intervention Services

With twenty-five years of experience in the world of education, Kristi Dozier has dedicated her life to helping hundreds of students reach their God-given potential. Kristi spent almost a decade in the classroom before transitioning into the publishing industry. For fifteen years, she served as a copy editor and writer for an educational publisher, creating and editing Bible curriculum for schools, homeschools, and churches. During that time, she also taught language arts classes to homeschoolers on the side, in addition to working with a handful of students with dyscalculia. She now works full-time as a one-on-one dyslexia specialist. Kristi has a B.S. in Education from Toccoa Falls College. She is trained in the Barton Reading & Spelling Program and will soon be certified in the Equipping Minds Cognitive Development Program. Over the next three summers, she plans to complete the NILD program, at the end of which she will be a certified Educational Therapist.


Mike Ford, Board of Directors, Treasurer and Jessica Ford, Director of Parent Support

Mike and Jessica are committed Christians, together serving as parents and licensed foster parents since 2006, caring for children with multiple challenges.

With more than 15 years in pharmaceutical manufacturing, Mike offers nonprofits his seasoned expertise in financial forecasting and leadership. At Pfizer Inc., as Forecasting Manager, he stewards budgets over $500M for late-stage R&D, mastering financial risk analysis, scenario planning, and operational forecasting. He drives efficiency, mentors teams, and builds partnerships to optimize resources for impact. Holding a BS in Business Administration (Project Management) from Liberty University, Mike also dedicated over 8 years to Trail Life USA Troop NC-0834, finishing as Advancement Chair, where he shaped young lives through faith-based leadership. Mike is eager to harness his financial skills to empower nonprofit causes.

Jessica has experience parenting children with RAD, FASD, ADHD, Periventricular Leukomalacia, Autism, speech delays, Anxiety, Enuresis, Dyslexia, Vasovagal syncope, chronic ear infections causing hearing loss and requiring surgeries, and severe Eczema and allergies. She has a BS in Child and degree in Adolescent Development from Liberty University. Jessica has been trained in a variety of different areas such as: Trauma, Mental Health disorders, substance misuse, substance affected infants, attachment issues, human trafficking, FASD, and supporting transitions into adulthood. Jessica’s work history includes working in a residential treatment facility where children lived with severe psychiatric and behavioral disorders including depression, suicidal ideation, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, ODD, OCD, Conduct disorder, eating disorders. Jessica worked as an in-home therapist helping families with complex clinical needs in their home environment. Jessica also worked as a Day Treatment counselor supporting children with emotional and mental health needs to be able to stay in the public school classroom setting. Jessica homeschooled her children from 2009-2023. Jessica serves in the church nursery at Rise Church. Her current passion is plants and holistic health.
