Care Skills and Companion Development Level I

This 20-hour workshop enables students to aid in activities of daily living and support good mental health for aging or sick people. Caregiving skills prepare the student to aid their own family in times of need and serve as a stepping stone to other medical positions/careers. 

Students will be able to apply basic infection control concepts, transfer and aid patients with mobility, keep basic HIPAA guidelines, aid with nutrition and hydration needs, and apply basic patient observation skills

Class instruction will take place in specially prepared lab environment that includes a hospital bed, medical equipment, and volunteer patients.

This class will meet 10 times between January 21 and April 2. 

Class sessions are 2 hours, 15 minutes long.

First month's tuition of $66.66 is due at time of registration.

Two addtional monthly tuition payments of $66.66 will be due on Feb.1 and Mar.1

Students need to bring a box of surgical gloves in their size, a new toothbrush, and a small tube of toothpaste.

Optional: After taking this 20-hour class, students can continue to enrich skills by becoming a certified caregiver.
