Q:

Can you tell me more about the Co-op classes?

A:

PACHEK offers a great opportunity to learn and engage with each other in a classroom setting! We offer two co-op opportunities per year. One in the Fall and one in the Spring. You must be a current member of PACHEK to pre-enroll and participate in the co-op classes.

  • Pre-Enrollment for Fall takes place in June
  • Pre-Enrollment for Spring takes place in November

Co-op classes meet once a week. There are 3 different class hours, with each age level (Early Elementary & up) having multiple choices of classes each hour.  We begin our day with announcements as a group and then dismiss by class to our first-hour classes. The students then rotate through their three assigned classes, each lasting 55 minutes. Classes are a mix of both fun and educational. We offer classes such as science, writing, cooking, crafting, music, math, physical education classes, and MUCH more!  Each semester’s class list is different, due to the teacher's choices.

Every student is signed in at the beginning of the day and attendance is taken in every class, every hour.  Students are then signed out by their parents at the end of the day.

Our co-op is led by a committee made up of our volunteer parents and works only because all of our parents cooperate together.  Each family is required to have a parent on site for the entirety of the co-op day.  Parents can volunteer to teach classes or will be assigned classes to assist in 2 out of the 3 class hours. The 3rd hour can be your free hour to mingle with the other adults IF we do not require substitute helpers that hour.

Please remember participation is not guaranteed when you pre-register. Pre-registration gives us an idea of how many students to plan for. Members can still participate in co-op if not pre-registered depending on class availability. As we grow, we cannot guarantee that there will be space for every family every semester, HOWEVER, we will do our best to accommodate everyone possible. Members who have never participated in CO-OP must attend a CO-OP orientation before being allowed to register.
