Boys' Basketball

Boys Basketball

There are three levels of HSA boys basketball.  The Modified team is for boys in 6th-8th grade and the Varsity A and B teams are for boys in 9th-12th grade.  The focus is to develop a competitive boys’ basketball team concentrating on character development, teamwork, and love for the game.

PLAYERS:  Potential players should possess the ability to learn basic skills in ball handling, passing, footwork, layups, shooting and able to understand basic defensive and offensive concepts.  The program will develop the boys from basic skills necessary in modified to advanced skills needed at the varsity level.

Players do not have to attend classes at HSA, but they must be home schooled and members of another LEAH group or become members of LEAH through HSA to participate. (The cost is $30/family for LEAH membership and sports insurance.)

There is a maximum number of players that can be accepted so sign up ASAP to ensure membership.

COACHES: John Lee is the coach for both Varsity teams and Dan Briggs is the modified team's coach.  There is a need for assistant coaches.  If you are interested in helping, contact John at 315-576-3841 (texting is best). 

FEE:  The fee is $125 for the modified team and $175 for the Varsity teams.  The fee for the teams includes the cost of uniforms, referees, gym rental and annual supplies.  Coaches are volunteers.  

LOCATION:  Practices and games for all teams will be held at Tri County Sports Complex located at 856 Walworth Penfield Road Macedon NY 14502.  The gym is located a few minutes from Penfield where you can grocery shop, retail shop, have dinner, coffee, etc while the players participate.

PRACTICES/GAMES:  Practices and games will begin in October and end in February.   Practice will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays 3-5pm, Tenatively, games will be on Wednesday afternoons and Fridays.  There will be  around 10-12 games per season.  The time commitment should remain around 2-3 days per week during season. 

REGISTRATION:  To register you must be logged in as a member.  To request membership, click LOGIN, click REQUEST MEMBERSHIP IN THIS ORGANIZATION and fill out application.  Upon membership, you must then register for the class of basketball.  LOGIN, Click CLASS REGISTRATION then scroll to bottom of page.  Click the team of interest (IE) BASKETBALL BOYS VARSITY The name of your children will be shown on the left of the page.  Check the (CHILD'S NAME) and then click on REGISTER.  


Girls' Basketball
