Spring class starts on January 16th. Ms. Murray will send out a spring syllabus to enrolled students.

Description: Would you and/or your son or daughter enjoy reading Jesus’ words in the original language of the New Testament? Would you like your student to boost his or her proficiency in English grammar and vocabulary as well? Students of this course will learn to recognize and pronounce basic Greek vocabulary and translate simple sentences in the Gospel of John. Your student will learn or refresh English grammar terminology, concepts, and usage. He or she will learn Greek words that have English cognates while gaining insight into the original language of the New Testament. See syllabus for expanded description.

Prerequisites: competency in reading and writing the English language; basic biblical literacy, especially familiarity with stories of Jesus in the Gospels. Knowledge of English grammar terminology and concepts helpful but not required.

Homework: 3 hours/week in short segments. Includes vocabulary memorization, word identification worksheets, grammar and translation exercises, and reflective/literary readings of short passages in John’s Gospel. Parent oversight/accountability for weekly homework strongly recommended. Great class for parents too!

Grades for Class: 9th grade and above, including adults. Younger students with exceptional language ability/interest at teacher and parent discretion.

Major book(s) or curriculum: No textbook to purchase. Instructor supplies in-class exercises and handouts. Weekly supplements and homework emailed as pdf files. Curriculum is original—designed and previously implemented by instructor.
