During this one year course, we will study the history of California using Beautiful Feet curriculum http://bfbooks.com/ . This course will provide many opportunities for wonderful field trips and class projects. It will require much at-home reading throughout the year. The home reading is rich, including such titles as Island of the Blue Dolphins, Song of the Swallow, and Patty Reed's Doll. Some of these can be checked out of the library, but it is recommended that they be purchased or borrowed since each student or family will need their own copy. A book list for home reading will be given prior to the course. Parent participation will be needed for field trips and class projects, this is mandatory in order for your student to participate in our fun class. The students will make missions during the year to be displayed at the CFS Open House, though the cost of making the missions is not included in class fees. We will also be making a Mission Tile that will also be on display. I will also provide the opportunity for students to display their missions at the San Diego County Fair.
Students will also need to purchase their own Beautiful Feet California History Timeline http://bfbooks.com/California-History-Timeline?sc=19&category=-119. Additionally you will need to purchase Our Golden California by Juanita Houston http://www.amazon.com/Our-Golden-California-Juanita-Houston/dp/0882801481 textbook. Colored pencils and a composition book is also required. We will also try to provide an opportunity for families to take part in a state capital tour to Sacramento.
