Ms. Cassandra Monson

Cassandra loves teaching art and helping children create the art that lives in their imagination! She has been teaching with HEdfEx for 11 years and offers 4 classes spanning all age ranges. All Cassandra’s art programs are integrated with literature, language, history and information about artists from all over the world. She has a fluid and flexible approach to teaching art. Each class begins with circle time, where children learn about the topic for that project and how to use fun new art materials. Cassandra sets aside most of the class time for making art at work tables.

Cassandra Monson is a professional artist and a freelance art teacher. She has a BFA from the College of Visual Arts and many years of teaching experience. Cassandra teaches art classes all over the Twin Cities and facilitates community-based collaborative public art projects. She teaches students to invest themselves in the creative process so that they will build a quality product. She combines quality art materials with reusing and recycling to enhance her student’s creative problem solving skills and promote environmental consciousness.

Cassandra shows her artwork on a regular basis at local galleries, nightclubs, community and art spaces. She also participates in local art fairs and sells her work regularly in local art centers and art shops. This provides a rich opportunity for her students to learn from a working artist.
