ECCHO Theater OPEN AUDITIONS will be June 15 from 11-12:30 at Living Hope Church of the Nazarene in Waxahachie! (Please email Stacey@eccho.us if you are not available this date and want to audition; a second date will be offered if needed.)
Auditions are open to students entering grades 7-12 this fall. Spots are limited to 25 cast & crew members.
The ECCHO Theater Program is separate from classes and meets after classes have concluded. ECCHO families may attend classes at any branch or do not have to attend classes at this or any branch in order to audition for theater.
Not currently an ECCHO member? No problem! You are welcome to come audition, and those invited into the theater program will need to complete membership steps to join over summer.
Auditions are for our 2026-2027 season, including our Christmas production of "It's a Wonderful Life: Live Radio Play" and our spring musical "Fiddler on the Roof, Jr." You will be auditioning for roles in both of these productions. We also have crew spots available for those who prefer to work backstage.
Theater Program classes & rehearsals will take place Fridays from 1:30-3:30pm at Heritage Baptist Church in Waxahachie. Program fees: $100 per semester supply fee (covers licensing and scripts, venue, show shirts, props, etc) and $30/month director fee Sept-Dec & Jan-Apr.
To audition:
-Sign up on the ECCHO website calendar so we know you're coming and can plan accordingly. After signing up, you will receive an email reviewing audition details and providing the music you will need as well as an audition form where you can share important details with us.
-Auditions will include a cold read, an ensemble song with simple choreography, and a solo vocal submission by video. The ensemble and solo songs will be emailed to you directly once you register. You'll be asked to learn the ensembe song before auditions, and will learn a simple choreography routine to perform with the ensemble song during the in person audition process. Solo vocal sumbissions will be recorded on your own and emailed in prior to your audition date.
-Tips for a great cold read audition: relax and remember to smile and have fun! Just do your best. We are looking to see your personality and potential, not expecting perfection =) Choreography is very simple and nothing to worry about. We just want to see how you work in a rehearsal type setting.
