March 12 & 13
Worldview Conference by Dr. Jeff Meyers, President of Summit Ministries.
Hosted at Buffalo Covenant Church in Buffalo at no cost

Saturday & Sunday, March 12 & 13

Are you concerned about the direction our culture is headed? Do you want to be certain your kids and grandkids see the world from a Biblical perspective? Dr. Jeff Myers will help our families think through some of the difficult topics related to worldview.

What is “Worldview” anyway, and what does it have to do with me and my family?
What is a “Worldview”? Everybody has one. A person may be educated or uneducated, liberal or conservative, rich or poor, nonbelieving or God-fearing, but all people act and live in certain ways because they are guided by particular worldviews.  A worldview is a theory of the world, used for living in the world.  A worldview is a mental model of reality — a framework of ideas & attitudes about the world, ourselves, and life, a comprehensive system of beliefs — with answers for a wide range of questions:

• What are humans, why we are here, and what is our purpose in life?  What are your goals for life?  When you make decisions about using time — it's the stuff life is made of — what are your values and priorities? *

• What can we know, and how?  and with how much certainty?

• Does reality include only matter/energy, or is there more?

Some worldview questions are about God:  Can we know whether God exists?  Does God exist? If so, what characteristics does God have, and what relationship with the universe?   Does God communicate with us in everyday life? What is the Bible?  What is God's role in history?  Is there a purpose and meaning in history, or is life just a long string of things happening?  What happens after death?

These are all pretty important questions, and how we answer these questions reveals our worldview. For our children and young people, worldview is critically important. The Biblical Christian worldview is challenged every day by our culture. We need to be clear about what we believe and why. THAT’S WORLDVIEW!

Dr. Jeff Myers is president of Summit Ministries, a highly respected worldview training program. In the last 20 years Dr. Myers has become one of America’s most respected authorities on youth leadership development. Focus on the Family founder James Dobson referred to him as “a very gifted and inspirational leader.”

Evangelist Josh McDowell called him “a man who is 100% sold out to preparing the next generation to reflect the character of Christ in the culture.”

As a communicator, Dr. Myers weaves together biblical insight, penetrating social commentary, fascinating research, and hilarious personal stories to motivate and challenge listeners. Through his appearances on Fox News and other media programs, Dr. Myers has become a fresh voice offering humor and insight from a Christian worldview.

Worldview Weekend at Buffalo Covenant
Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon sessions will be directed at everyone

Schedule of Events from middle school through all adults.
Saturday evening, March 12; 7:00 – 9:00

Viruses are everywhere, waiting to attack. And you can’t kill them because they’re not alive. Bad ideas are like viruses and we catch them like we catch colds, draining us of purpose and causing us to feel unloved and hopeless.

We’ll talk about how to identify and defend against the five bad ideas plaguing our nation right now.Bad ideas are everywhere. But only a worldview based on Christ answers our deepest life questions: Am I loved? Why do I hurt? What is my purpose? Why can’t we get along? Is there hope? Is God even relevant? We’ll look at the Christian Worldview response to these questions.

Childcare will NOT be available on Saturday evening.

Sunday Morning, March 13, in all three Worship Services

Worldview and the Next Generation. We know that a huge percentage of young church attenders walk away from their faith during college and most never come back. Our kids need a solid worldview that applies to today’s issues. They also need mentoring, and a vibrant community that puts into practice what it teaches. How can our church prepare the next generation to live a joyful life-long faith in an un-Christian world?

Pizza lunch will be available in the gym from 12:15 – 1:00
Sunday Afternoon, 1:00 – 3:00

Learning to be Everyday Leaders in Tough Times.

Jesus trained disciples in the worst of time—and they changed the world. What did he do? What difference has it made through history? How can we be everyday leaders who turn the tide and bring hope to our families, communities and nation?

How to Talk About God’s Truth Without Being Weird.
One of the hardest things about living in a nation with so many worldviews is helping people make sense of God without coming across as intolerant or ignorant. Here’s what our Summit team has learned as we prepare students for the most faith-challenging environment in the world: today’s university campuses.

Childcare for infants through grade 5 will be available for all events on Sunday.

This Worldview Weekend event is an amazing opportunity for our church family and our guests to hear from a national leader in preparing the next generation to be Christ-followers who are leaders in our homes, community and nation. Mark your calendar, adjust your schedules, and plan to attend every session!
